American Board of Medical Hypnosis

Officers Who Are We?
  The American Board Medical Hypnosis (ABMH) provides certification of competence in clinical hypnosis to physicians. It is the approved accrediting body sanctioned by the two major scientific hypnosis societies, the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) and The Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (SCEH). Its board certification provides the diplomate with the highest level of credentialing in medical hypnosis.
Board of Directors  
  The purpose of the ABMH is to encourage the study, application, and teaching of clinical hypnosis and the application of hypnotic technique in all disciplines of medicine. The Board has established standards of competence for physicians who voluntarily seek recognition for their abilities and clinical interests in the application of hypnosis to their specialty area of medicine. The ABMH encourages and supports research and education in medical hypnosis, and many members are active in teaching, mentorship, and leadership positions in ASCH and SCEH, as well as in their own medical specialties.

 

Summary of Application Process and Requirements  
  The American Board of Medical Hypnosis is a component board of the American Boards of Clinical Hypnosis, along with the American Board of Dental Hypnosis, the American Board of Psychological Hypnosis, the American Board of Hypnosis in Social Work, and soon the American Board of Hypnosis in Nursing.

 

Application Form  
  What Do We Do?
  The American Board of Medical Hypnosis certifies the competence and mastery of licensed physicians in applying hypnosis in their practice of medicine. Candidates take a tripartite examination, consisting of written, oral and practical components. Successful candidate may append the initials ABMH after their names. The ABMH designation is the highest recognition of a physician professional who uses hypnosis. Interested candidates should contact Philip D.
